Black Horse Inn, Thurnham May 2009

GEOGRAPH

Thurnham is a small village in Kent ...

... on The Pilgrim's Way from London to Canterbury, between the M20 and A249 but seemingly untroubled by either. Here it is on Google maps,

The Black Horse Inn is a busy place with about 30 rooms arranged in clusters at the bottom of the hill while the extended pub / restaurant has tables inside, under cover and outside.

The food is of a high standard, deserving the name gastropub, and actually it's one of the few gastropubs we've visited that avoids being pretentious.

There are walks from the very door of the Inn, along the Pigrim's Way and the North Downs Way, all of which go through a mixture of rolling hills, woodland (with blue bells in April/May) and farm land.
