Ashbourne, Derbyshire

Throwley Hall Farm is an isolated but very pleasant family-run bed and breakfast farm house.

It's on a working farm and calves were born while we were there. There's also an old hall, now in ruins. Great breakfasts - we enjoyed our stay.

Dovedale

... is a 3-4 mile steep valley with remnants of ancient woodland and a wealth of birdlife.

It's also very popular on May Bank Holiday, so go at another time to experience a very easy and pleasnt walk.
