The George at Cley Next the Sea. The four walkers are holding prized pint glasses, given for considerable services to Adnams beers.

GEOGRAPH

The George was once a grand Victorian seaside pub ...

Now it has comfortable rooms and good food but served in a curious Art Deco atmosphere which seems to work at breakfast but less so for dinner.

Minutes from the marshes (good views from the windows of some rooms) so good walking and bird watching territory.

We think this is now a gastro-pub - with all those pros and cons. Try it and see; the area is great for sailing, fishing, birding and walking.

Here we are - all eight of us except for the cameraman - at the old coastguard station.

Cley Next The Sea ...

leads to a shingle coastline towards Blakeney Point which can be pretty bleak and tough walking with the pebbles shifting underfoot. Bracing walks can turn inland where it's milder.
