Bridge over The Tweed, west of Peebles

September 2016

The Tweed Walk

Peebles has a busy High Street of individual shops and is easily reached by bus from Edinburgh.

My walk started at the end of the High Street, down by the swimming pool in a pleasant park by the river. It followed Walking World id=1276 . Easy to navigate, it followed the north bank of the River Tweed to Lyne, often on a railway track bed, than back on the south bank. It is mainly flat, with one steep incline near the end. Nearly 8 miles in all.

River Tweed

It was soothing to follow the river, the ground underfoot was firm, stony at times, and all in all this was a very pleasant walk to do, relaxing exercise after a 5 hour journey up to Edinburgh and an hour by bus to Peebles.

The walk passes Neidpath Castle.
