The Mausoleum at West Wycombe

St Bartholomew's Church, Fingest

We stayed at the George and Dragon, West Wycombe and ate there several times. A comfortable community inn, very active and characterful (though the carpet suffered from many muddy feet). The church and mausoleum were worth visiting and here is a view of the house which was the base for the infamous Hell Fire Club founded by Sir Francis Dashwood (1755).

St Lawrence's Church, West Wycombe.

We visited The Frog at Skirmett, from where we launched our Sunday walk to Turville and Turville Heath. Turville is the village used for the opening shot in Vicar of Dibley as well as Goodnight Mr Tom.

In the evening we ate at The Chequers at Fingest. Our final walk was from Chesham where we lunched at The Queen's Head.

All in all a splendid return to a beautiful rural yet accessible part of the country.
