Snow and sleet blew in on Sunday morning at The White Harte in Burnham.

All-weather gear was needed in Maldon car park and despite the snow we enjoyed a bracing walk around a town famous for its production of salt, as the site of a battle of the Saxons against 93 longboats of Vikings and now some substantial brown-sailed Thames sailing barges.

There's a good pub down by the Quay, too.
