The Rising Sun, Little Hampden, Bucks

The Rising Sun

Off the beaten track and down the end of a narrow road leading to woods and Coombe Hill lies The Rising Sun, a good pub, very good restaurant and comfortable accommodation. Walkers, cyclists and folks with dogs would enjoy this place, which is more attractive and comfortable than this picture suggests. You'd have to drive a few miles to collect a newspaper but you'd be better off forgetting it and getting stuck in to the beer, food and walking.

Rising Sun website here and map of the area here.

'Little Hampden is a mere hamlet in the woods, with a tiny church in a
secluded position, which dates from 1254. Its wooden porch wth belfry above
is a most interesting feature. The beech woods from Little Hampden towards
Wendover show Buckinghamshire at its best.'

..from the very informative 'Guide to Metroland', published in the1920s
(price 2d!). Not much has changed in 80 years.
