Providing examples of areas where film could integrate into the existing curriculum and add to existing teaching and learning is not difficult. Any interested teacher could quickly supply a short list within minutes. What is more interesting is providing examples of how digital film can truly enhance learning, offering insights which would otherwise be unavailable. • Local Studies - as a microcosm of the greater view; then contributing to the pool of resources available to all learners. See History of a Country House. • English Literature interpretation - detailed comparison between the mise en scene of a film adaptation and the original text. Students can select scenes and re-edit them or provide commentaries. • Advertisements - as a microcosm of film making techniques along the lines of the Nescafé series and Ridley Scott's Hovis (both used on BFI video resources for tis purpose) • Science processes • Study of genre - eg Science fiction, see Blade Runner for GCSE • History re-enactments - see Hinchingbrooke Civil War • PE movement analysis and training - evaluating and improving performance • Evaluating comparative information sources (History, English, Citizenship) • Design Technology manufacturing processes • Recording and presenting drama, speaking and listening, musical performance, foreign language "situations typique"
